Three experiments explored the effects of variation in room illumination and in seating distance between members of a small group on moods, evaluations, attraction, and opinion expression. The results indicate that interaction distance is not per se a very powerful variable. (Author)

Two groups did not involve partner participation, while the third group included partners on two occasions. Results for all groups were similar. This article reports on the utility of sociometrics for the teacher, particularly in determining who will not reject a generally rejected classmate.
