Nursing Students' Perceptions of the Flipped Classroom and Kahoot! in Intramuscular Injection Teaching: A Qualitative Study

This study aimed to explore the perceptions of nursing students regarding the flipped classroom and Kahoot! application used in intramuscular (IM) injection teaching. This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach with 16 nursing students. Semi-structured open-ended questions was used in-depth face-to-face individual interviews. Content analysis with deductive and inductive approaches were used to analyse the data. Four main themes were generated: impact on learning, learning environment, emotions, suggestions for Kahoot/flipped classroom model. The flipped classroom model and the Kahoot application facilitated the teaching of IM injection skills to nursing students. In addition to ensuring the permanence of knowledge, facilitating learning, learning in a fun way, increasing motivation and strengthening student-teacher interaction, providing positive emotions such as self-confidence and happiness, negative emotions such as fear and stress were also experienced. Therefore, there is a need for interventions that will reduce students' grades fear and stress when using these methods.
