Siegert, Richard J.; And Others – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1988
A study concluding that the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (Revised) (WAIS-R) has three clear factors in its structure is critiqued. An alternative factor comparison technique, FACTOREP, is used with identical data. It is demonstrated that the WAIS-R has only two strong factors--verbal comprehension and perceptual organization. McKinley, Robert L.; Reckase, Mark D. – 1984
To assess the effects of correlated abilities on test characteristics, and to explore the effects of correlated abilities on the use of a multidimensional item response theory model which does not explicitly account for such a correlation, two tests were constructed. One had two relatively unidimensional subsets of items, the other had all…

Lawrence, Ida M.; Dorans, Neil J. – 1987
Six editions of Scholastic Aptitude Test-Mathematical (SAT-M) were factor analyzed using confirmatory and exploratory methods. Confirmatory factor analyses (using the LISREL VI program) were conducted on correlation matrices among item parcels--sums of scores on a small subset of items. Item parcels were constructed to yield correlation matrices…

Ree, Malcolm James; And Others – 1982
Presented is an investigation of the item and factor characteristics which make up Forms 8, 9, and 10 of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Data on the ASVAB forms were collected from mulitary enlistment applications at 20 Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Stations. Item and factor analyses were conducted on samples equated…

Ryan, Joseph P.; Hamm, Debra W. – 1976
A procedure is described for increasing the reliability of tests after they have been given and for developing shorter but more reliable tests. Eight tests administered to 200 graduate students studying educational research are analyzed. The analysis considers the original tests, the items loading on the first factor of the test, and the items…
