Kitano, Harry H. L.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1984
Presented data on Chinese, Japanese, and Korean marriages in Los Angeles and Hawaii. Found that the Japanese have the highest rates of outmarriage (one partner not of the specific nationality group) in Los Angeles, and Chinese and Koreans were characterized by high rates of outmarriage in Hawaii. Johnson, Collenn Leahy – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1977
This paper presents an analysis of the qualitative aspects of kinship interaction among Japanese Americans in Honolulu. Based on semistructured interviews with 104 families, the findings indicate an increase in kinship solidarity with the third generation. Explanations of these findings utilize theorize of exchange and reciprocity. (Author)
