The NACS Placement Service, which consists of two activities--resume referral and advertisements in a special "positions wanted/available" supplement sheet distributed with the weekly NACS College Stores Confidential Bulletin--is described. The position available listing, position wanted listing, and the resume are discussed. (MLW)

Suggestions are offered for setting personnel policies, determining needed skills and abilities, finding applicants, developing application forms, and interviewing applicants. (LBH)

Specific suggestions are given for more effective personnel management: careful screening of applicants by one person, a well-designed application form (a sample is provided), good interview techniques, job descriptions, promotions from within, employee manuals, employee orientation, and continuing interpersonal communication.
