This paper presents the results of an experiment in which private employment agencies were used to place public assistance clients in jobs. Contains brief descriptions of the experiment and the AFDC clients who participated in it. Key experimental findings are outlined and policy implications are discussed. (CT)

Chandler, Anne L. – Journal of Employment Counseling, 1984
Examined the feasibility of an abbreviated Job Club program for 23 Job Service clients. Results showed a 50 percent placement rate, which compared favorably with the agency rate, but was lower than the traditional Job Club success rate. An experimental study that evaluated an innovative approach to job placement is presented. Rehabilitation clients in the experimental group were taught job-seeking behaviors on an individual and self-help basis. The percentage of the experimental group who obtained jobs was much higher than control groups. (Author)
