This article presents an employment negotiation exercise suitable for use in numerous business courses. The exercise has been utilized in a graduate Negotiation and Dispute Resolution course and an undergraduate Employment and Agency Law course. However, due to the broad skills developed and accessible subject matter, it could be used in a variety of management, business communication, employee relations, and law course contexts. The exercise requires students to navigate a difficult employment scenario that involves issues of potential race and sex discrimination. The exercise provides students with the opportunity to develop their interpersonal communication skills, particularly in the context of navigating a difficult conversation.
