Braggio, John T.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
To determine optimal and least effective response modes of learning disabled children, the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities was used. Results suggest that learning disabled children may do poorly on academic tasks because they may not have enough optimal response modes, or are unable to select the appropriate one. (Author/SJL)

And Others; Worthington, R. Kirby – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
Thirty-two preschool children were matched by age, sex, and pretest scores on spatial concept knowledge. Four groups were (1) instruction (see and hear) only, (2) verbal repetition, (3) fine motor treatment (hand manipulation), and (4) gross motor treatment (body movement). There was no difference in performance between groups given instruction…

Bjorklund, David F.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1978
Thirty-nine fourth grade children exposed to a haptic (active touch) match-to-sample task made significantly fewer post-test errors, relative to control subjects, on a visual problem-soving task. (Author/PHR)

Papineau, William; Lohr, Jeffrey M. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1981
Recall performance on a paired-associate learning task was investigated as a function of word imagery modality (visual or auditory), presentation mode (visual or auditory), and sex. Analysis showed greater recall of visual imagery words, and the results are consistent with Paivio's (1971) conceptual-peg hypothesis. (Author)

Stensrud, Robert; Stensrud, Kay – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1983
The learning-style preferences of 95 public school teachers were assessed through the Barbe and Swassing Checklist of Observable Modality Strength Characteristics. For their own learning and teaching, teachers preferred the visual modality and least preferred the kinesthetic, suggesting that children may be aided or handicapped by teacher's…
