Suggests that microfilm storage areas can be more efficiently utilized if the unfilled spaces on microfilm reels are consolidated through splicing with microfilm from successive reels. The effects of the lack of development on medical libraries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America are described, based on personal experiences and reports in the professional literature. It is suggested that underdeveloped countries develop libraries like the BIREME in Brazil to serve as regional network centers for medical information systems. (VT)
