A population of more than 200 participants in nine Canadian continuing education workshops is used to test assumptions as to who benefits from continuing education in librarianship and what factors determine workshop registration. Attitudes toward women as managers (WMs) in the library and information science (LIS) field were studied through a literature review and survey of 665 graduate students enrolled in 15 LIS universities.
