A study was made of the effectiveness of the Midwest Medical Union Catalog (MMUC). Kilgour, Frederick G.; Moran, Barbara B. – Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 2000
This experiment searches an online library catalog employing author surnames, plus one or two title words of books in citations of eight scholarly works whose authors selected the title words as being recallable. Results of searches yielded a single-screen miniature catalog (minicat) 99% of the time. (Author/LRW)

Crismond, Linda F. – Library Resources and Technical Services, 1981
A questionnaire was sent to 446 members of OCLC to ascertain their views on the development of a special minimal standard to be used only for the conversion of retrospective cataloging records to machine-readable form. It was found that 74.5 percent would oppose the creation of a new lower standard. (Author)

Cox, Carolyn, M.; Juergens, Bonnie – 1977
This project proposed to develop and test the use of microform catalogs produced from computer-generated magnetic tape records in both fiche and film formats. Mullikin, Angela G. – Library Resources and Technical Services, 1981
Seventy-two libraries participated in the development of a cost model for library catalogs, considered alternate forms of catalogs (including various combinations of card, computer output microfilm, and online), and prepared input data for computer runs to arrive at costs. Card catalogs appeared to be the least costly. (FM)
