Wilkinson, W. A.; Stock, Loretta A. – Special Libraries, 1971
Binding specifications are maintained on embossed plastic plates, one plate for each title bound. All binding instructions are imprinted from the plate to a set of forms. The system saves time, reduces errors, is flexible and inexpensive. A computer-assisted system produces claim letters and a claims status report. (Author/NH)

Randall, G. E.; Oxton, J. G. – Special Libraries, 1973
An integrated library record-keeping system introduced ten years ago is still viable. Unanticipated fringe benefits have been interspersed with an occasional unanticipated faux pas. Computer costs, equipment requirements, and the possibilities for the future are covered. (2 references) (Author)
Descriptors: Automation, Computers, Library Automation, Library Circulation

McAllister, Caryl – Special Libraries, 1971
A general discussion of on-line procedures, batch and real-time updating, types of files and indexes, terminals, and the use of a general-purpose data management system as a vehicle for on-line operation is followed by an Appendix giving detailed information on each on the known systems. (14 references) (Author/NH)

Stiles, Helen J.; Maier, Joan M. – Special Libraries, 1972
A system for automated cataloging of technical reports was established during 1971. The twice-per-month output is an updated book catalog, an announcement bulletin, demand bibliographies, and an SDI notification system. Benefits include a 600 percent increase in report usage and a 10 percent decrease in catalog maintenance. (Author/NH)
