The recent experiences of the Ohio College Library Center's computer-based cataloging system illustrate how the computer can facilitate interlibrary cooperation. The on-line serials control system in use at the UCLA Biomedical Library is compared with former batch processing and manual procedures. It is evaluated in terms of performance, user satisfaction and costs, and is shown to be superior in these respects. The system makes possible increased productivity and savings.
