Phares, E. Jerry; Lamiell, James T. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1974
Four tests, ostensibly designed to measure IQ, were described to internally and externally oriented subjects. Externals demonstrated greater preference for the…

Finch, A. J. Jr.,; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1975
The purpose of this study was to extend the generality of research on the relationship between locus of control in children and achievement to a group of emotionally disturbed children. McBride, Kevin J.; Lao, Rosina C. – Psychology of Women Quarterly, 1978
This study tries to show that a theory of coalition formation based solely on sex is inadequate. Results indicated that both the frequency and the pattern of coalitions formed were significantly influenced by locus of control; thus the findings lend support to the basic reasoning of the researchers. (Author)

Hochreich, Dorothy J. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Male subjects (N=96), defensive externals, congruent externals, and internals, participated in a level of aspiration task under either "game" or "test" instructions. As predicted, congruent externals showed significantly more realistic striving behavior in the test condition. (Author)

Abramowitz, Christine V.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1974
Twenty-six mildly distressed college student clients were assigned randomly to a nondirective or directive group. (Author)

Kilmann, Peter R.; Howell, Robert J. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1974
This study compared the outcome of external and internal scorers on the locus of control scale and considered the association between internal-external orientation and direct and nondirect marathon group therapy. The findings suggest that internals are better therapeutic risks than externals, regardless of a direct or nondirect therapist…

Johnson, Richard K.; Meyer, Robert G. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1974
The present study investigated locus of control, and performance in a biofeedback situation where the goal was to increase EEG alpha rhythm. Subjects with an internal locus of control were better able to use feedback to increase their alpha activity than external subjects. (Author)

Stebbings, Paul; Stone, Gerald L. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1977
The study examined the attribution of responsibility of 34 students with an internal or external locus of control following success or failure feedback on a communication task.
