Newson, John; And Others – Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry and Allied Disciplines, 1982
Examines whether relationships can be demonstrated between specific infantile comfort habits and later personality development. Results suggest that children with a persistent oral habit at age 4 may later (at age 11 and 16) be less emotionally "well-adjusted" and more difficult for their parents to influence and control.
