Forgac, Gregory E.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Studied exhibitionistic and nonexhibitionistic criminal offenses as they relate to severity of psychopathology as measured by the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory in 84 exhibitionists. An increase in psychopathology was not associated with an increase in chronicity of exhibitionistic activity in exhibitionists. (JAC)
Descriptors: Criminals, Males, Personality Traits, Psychopathology

Bartsch, Thomas W.; Hoffman, Joseph J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI) and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) data were obtained from 125 male veteran alcoholic inpatients. Results showed five clusters exist among MCMI profiles and statistically significant relationships exist between MCMI profiles and MMPI scale scores. Findings support an alcoholism…

Greenwald, Deborah F. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Interviewed 40 men to investigate the hypothesis that gastrointestinal and dermatological symptoms are associated with differing psychological styles and responses to the environment. Results suggested a responsive style is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms and a nonresponsive style is associated with dermatological symptoms. (JAC)

Yohman, J. Robert; Parsons, Oscar A. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Examined verbal learning/memory in 60 male alcoholics. Results indicated that the predicted relative impairment of alcoholics with more difficult material did not occur, nor did the groups' learning curves differ, suggesting that rote associative learning either remains intact or recovers satisfactorily with abstinence. (Author/BL)

Cohn, Nancy B.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Administered a modified Stroop Color-Word Test to healthy males (N=80) aged 21-90 years as part of a study of neuropsychological functioning. Results showed differences on simple reading tasks; however, significant age effects were observed for the color naming and interference tasks. (LLL)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Cognitive Tests, Males, Performance Factors

Watson, Charles G.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Performed factor analyses of 100 alcoholics' reports of the effects that they experience after alcohol consumption. Five factors emerged: Hangover, Euphoria, Flushing, Seizures, and Sleepiness. These factors may be helpful in assessing theories on the etiology of alcoholism and in studies of ethanol's effects on subsets of alcohol abusers. (BH)

Hart, Ronald R. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Cluster analyzed the MMPI profiles of 70 male chronic pain patients into four homogeneous subgroups. Mean composites for each subgrouping were entered into a PDP 11 computer to generate an objective actuarial narrative description. Findings appeared to extend and replicate the work of earlier investigators. (Author)
Descriptors: Classification, Cluster Analysis, Males, Patients

Rosso, Martin; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Computed correlations between the subscales of the Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children-Revised (WISC-R) and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R) for 72 male deliquents. Significant relationships were obtained for 10 subtests. The signficance and the implications of this relationship were discussed. (JAC)

Pfost, Karen S.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Investigated the relationship of the MacAndrew Alcoholism Scale (MAC) to personality type and level of emotional distress using Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory scores of 38 alcoholic males. No relationship was found between the MAC and magnitude of psychological distress, as measured by T scores. (JAC)
Descriptors: Alcoholism, Males, Patients, Personality Traits

Sherer, Mark; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Attempted to replicate previous research which demonstrated that psychological test results of newly admitted alcoholics are not stable due to lingering alcohol toxicity. The present study (N=40) demonstrated that a 10-day delay in testing is sufficient to obtain stable results on some psychological tests. (Author/JAC)
Descriptors: Alcoholism, Males, Patients, Psychological Testing

Lehman, Elyse Brauch; Levy, Bernard I. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1971
Descriptors: Body Image, Intelligence Tests, Males, Psychological Studies

Elwood, Richard W. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1993
Examined whether delayed recall factor could be found by substituting percent retained (saving) scores for existing Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R) delayed recall subtests scores. Principal component analyses of age-corrected WMS-R immediate and save scores in mixed clinical sample (n=168) failed to find hypothesized save factor. (Author/NB)

Bayer, Betty M.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Harris and Lingoes' six psychopathic deviate subscales were assessed empirically for their convergent validity and for their utility to discriminate among male offenders on the two outcome measures of successful completion of sentences at a correctional halfway house and reincarceration at a one-year follow-up. Results provided varying degrees of…

Faulstich, Michael E.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Administered the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory to 91 male alcoholics after detoxification. Results indicated that the Psychopathic Deviant and Paranoia scales declined with age, while the Responsibility scale increased with age. (JAC)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Aging (Individuals), Alcoholism, Males

Holcomb, William R.; Adams, Nicholas A. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Personality variables involved in alcohol-related violence were studied by comparing Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) scores of four different groups (N=259). Results are given for violent versus nonviolent groups and intoxicated versus sober men who commit murder. (Author/BL)
