Discussed is the utilization of marine magazines in the classroom. Methods for organizing and acquiring magazines are given, along with a listing of appropriate periodicals. Usual bibliographic information is included. (MA)

A variety of informational material for a course in marine biology or oceanology at the secondary level is presented. Among the topics discussed are: food webs and pyramids, planktonic blooms, marine life, plankton nets, food chains, phytoplankton, zooplankton, larval plankton and filter feeders. (BT)

This article addresses the role of Sea World in educating the public toward an environmental ethic. The education department has developed and implemented a three-phase program for the schools: (1) in-school involvement; (2) in-park program; and (3) post-visit program. Each are discussed in depth. This project was a two-week ocean education program designed to utilize community resources from a variety of disciplines. Participants not only performed marine science activities, but also became involved in values discussion sessions. Both community and media support were given for this project. (MA)

The plan for marine education in the elementary and secondary schools of Hawaii as devised by the Hawaii Marine Education Council in 1974 is described. The plan outlines guidelines for the development and dissemination of marine curricular programs (K-12) over the next eight years. (BT)
