Ninety-six dual-career married couples with a preschool child were examined with regard to ties between marital quality and parental perceptions. Findings showed that parents in more satisfying marriages viewed their children more favorably and more often reached consensus about children's problem behavior. (SH)

Investigated relations between certain family context variables and the conversational behavior of 36 parents who were playing with their 3 year olds. Predicted children's attachment security and style from parents' report of their style and marital adjustment. Found that mothers' anxious attachment style uniquely predicted children's insecure attachment to both parents and that attachment by parent-child pair differed by self-concept domain for either parent.
