Stronge, William B.; Schultz, Ronald R. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1981
A structural model for projecting public school enrollment by grade, program, and district is outlined. Main points of consideration are illustrated by an application to the problem of forecasting enrollment in Florida. (Author/GK)

Magidson, Jay; Sorbom, Dag – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1982
LISREL V computer program is applied to a weak quasi-experimental design involving the Head Start program, as a multiple analysis attempt to assure that differences between nonequivalent control groups do not confound interpretation of a posteriori differences. (PN)

Heath, Robert W.; Brandon, Paul R. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1982
This paper discusses problems associated with the application of experimental methods to program evaluation, proposes an alternative approach (program-attribute scaling), and reports the procedure and results of a trial application of the alternative approach. (Author)

Berne, Robert; Stiefel, Leanna – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1982
Various simple ex post wealth neutrality measures capture different aspects of the concept; the use of one measure alone or several measures independently can lead to interpretation problems. The Adjusted Relationship Measure is introduced to pay attention to actual revenue differences associated with wealth differences. (Author/BW)

Pullum, Thomas W.; Graham, Stephen N. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1982
Linear programing was used to plan the desegregation program of the Seattle (WA) School District. The application described is unique in two respects: (1) its nearest/next nearest school distinction, using geographically coded student files, and (2) its measurement of the compatibility of two alternative legal frameworks for achieving racial…

Greene, Laura L. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1989
Data on National Direct Student Loan Program borrowers at the University of North Carolina illustrate the use of a discriminant function analysis model and an alternative model identifying characteristics of borrowers who repay and borrowers who default. The alternative model--the Tobit technique--includes data on the magnitude of the default.…

Nelson, F. Howard – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1991
A means of generating an interstate cost-of-living (COL) index from market basket data collected at the standard metropolitan statistical area (SMSA) level is described. Models developed for four regions explain differences in the COL among over 180 SMSAs. An adjusted average teacher salary for each state is also generated. (TJH)

Goldring, Ellen B.; Presbrey, Laurie S. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1986
A meta analysis of preschool intervention programs is performed to arrive at an overall effect size of such programs. Results indicate that despite the diversities in intervention sites, ages of subjects, lengths of intervention, and curricula models, there is a positive homogeneous effect on the variables. Denton, Jon J.; And Others – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1980
Empirical findings lend credence to the postulation that differences among teachers regarding content knowledge ( being more pronounced in the upper grades regarding cognitive attainment of course specific content), instructional skills, and teaching experience do result in cognitive attainment differences among classes of learners. Weiler, William C. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1991
The effect of indebtedness (undergraduate loan burden) after college graduation on the decision to pursue a graduate degree was studied for 899 individuals from the High School and Beyond study. Level of undergraduate debt was not a significant choice determinant. Some limitations of the methodology are discussed. (SLD)
