Impact of Using Interactive Notebooks on Math Achievement in an Elementary Classroom
Cori Killen Stoken
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
Proficiency in foundational math skills for all students is an educational goal. Students will build and rely on these foundational skills for the rest of their lives. A solid understanding of mathematics is needed every day, no matter the job or career. Some students are lacking these fundamental math skills needed for their future. This research examined the impact of using interactive notebooks on mathematical achievement in an elementary classroom. The study examined a more explicit way for students to interact with foundational math skills through interactive notebooks. The data suggest that interactive notebooks help students improve their fundamental math skills by increasing the math scores on assessments from the beginning of the school year through the middle of the school year.
