Short Activity: The Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci Sequence
Simon Crawley
Australian Mathematics Education Journal, v5 n3 p33-36 2023
The short activity presented in this article continues a discussion related to the value of golden ratio explorations in secondary mathematics, and acts as a companion to the earlier paper in this journal (Crawley, 2023). Exploring meaningful ways in which teachers can elicit students' interest and engagement in mathematics is vital, and appreciating the power of mathematics remains core to the "Australian Curriculum: Mathematics" (ACARA, 2022). Activities related to golden ratio, which connect to various measurement, geometry, and algebra content, are one way in which students can be engaged in creative mathematical exploration whilst developing their understanding, reasoning and communication skills.
