O'Grady, Kevin E. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1988
Various psychometric characteristics of the Marlowe-Crowne and Edwards Social Desirability scales were assessed in a sample of 108 male and 189 female undergraduates. Results suggest that males and females show different means and similar internal consistency reliability and intercorrelation on the two scales. (TJH)

Teri, Linda; Lewinsohn, Peter – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1982
Presents modifications of the Pleasant and Unpleasant Events Schedules for use with an elderly population. Constructed two revised schedules by selecting only items that met endorsement criteria with an elderly sample. Both possessed excellent internal consistency and correlated well to the original schedules. (Author)

Byrne, Barbara M.; And Others – Journal of Adolescent Research, 1994
Describes a study that sought to test for the factorial validity of the French version of the Beck Depression Inventory separately for nonclinical adolescent French-speaking males and females; cross-validate findings across a second independent sample for each gender; and test for equivalent factorial structure across gender for that population.…

Maximum Likelihood Estimation of Factor Structures of Anxiety Measures: A Multiple Group Comparison.
Kameoka, Velma A.; And Others – 1982
Confirmatory maximum likelihood estimation of measurement models was used to evaluate the construct generality of self-report measures of anxiety across male and female samples. These measures included Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Taylor's Manifest Anxiety Scale, and two forms of Endler, Hunt and Rosenstein's S-R Inventory of…

Hudson, Walter W.; McIntosh, Sally Rau – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1981
Presents a short-form scale called the Index of Spouse Abuse (ISA) designed for use in clinical settings to monitor and evaluate progress in treatment. Presents detailed findings concerning the reliability and validity of the ISA, along with details concerning the administration, scoring, and interpretation of the scale. (Author/RC)

Harty, Harold; Beall, Dwight – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1984
The "Children's Science Curiosity Scale" is composed of 30 Likert-like items which examine various curiosity factors in the context of science learning. Internal consistency, test-retest reliabilities, and validity of the instrument were investigated. Sex differences using the instrument were also investigated. (JN)

Jemail, Jay A.; LoPiccolo, Joseph – American Journal of Family Therapy, 1982
Developed scale for each sex to measure defensiveness about the marital relationship and to measure defensiveness about the sexual relationship of couples. Clough, James R. – 1979
A 21-item measure of pre-school children's "self-concept as a learner," known as the Behavioral Descriptor Scale, was developed and evaluated. The child's teacher and an assistant were required to complete the scale for the child at two different times. Satisfactory levels of reliability were gained for each scale item. Test-retest…

DeVore, Jerry R.; Handal, Paul J. – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1981
Reports the test-retest reliability coefficients for each of the five scales of the College Student Satisfaction Questionnaire over a seven-day interval. The reliability coefficients for both male and female private university undergraduate students (N=89) were significantly and uniformly high. (Author)

Alpert, Judith L.; And Others – 1980
The general purpose of this study was to explore the possibility of adapting the Means-Ends Problem-Solving procedure (MEPS) to the investigation of the individual's transition to parenthood. Specific purposes were to determine (1) the internal consistency of the Parent Problem-Solving Scale (PPSS), of its subclasses, and of a combined subscale;…

Funderburk, Beverly W.; Eyberg, Sheila M.; Rich, Brendan A.; Behar, Lenore – Early Education and Development, 2003
Examined psychometric properties of the Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory, Preschool Behavior Questionnaire (PBQ) (Parent and Teacher versions), and Sutter-Eyberg Student Behavior Inventory (SESBI) with a sample of 2- to 6-year-olds. Established internal consistency for SESBI and the PBQ-Teacher. Obtained evidence for long-term stability on the…

Robinson, Christopher S.; And Others – 1992
There are no available measures that assess family interaction from a comprehensive theoretical perspective. This study reports analyses of the measurement integrity of scores from a measure developed to offer a comprehensive assessment.
