Richman, Charles L. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
Sixty college students formed mixed conceptual categories in original learning (e.g., PEACH, SHIRT, PANTS, and PEAR; and SHOE, ORANGE, DRESS, and APPLE). They were then required to perform either a reversal shift or a conceptual shift. Results are discussed in relation with mediation theory. (Editor/RK)

Hasher, Lynn; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The present experiment uses a variation of the repeti design of Hebb (1961) to ask the question of the fate of individual items in the Brown-Peterson task at a time when, if interference does indeed dissipate, the old items that produce interference should no longer be available to compete with new items. Research based on doctoral dissertation submitted at the University of Massachusetts. Experiment findings show that serial processes are present in recall and recognition for short-term and long-term storage. (DS)
