The present study is an attempt to determine whether the build-up and release of PI (Proactive Inhibition) previously reported for verbal STM (Short-Term Memory) can be obtained when visual STM is involved. (Author/RK)

Hollingsworth, Holly – 1978
A fundamental fact of the analysis of variance statistical procedure is that if the omnibus F test of an effect is significant, then there exists at least one contrast of that effect that will be significantly different from zero according to the S-method of Scheffe. The caveat to this rule is that the significant contrast(s) may not be of any…

Boyd, Bruce D.; Ellis, Norman R. – Intelligence, 1986
Individual differences in memory were examined from the levels of processing perspective. The hypothesis that retarded persons process at a more superficial level was not supported. A "Spread of encoding" deficit in retarded persons is favored to explain the recall differences obtained in this experiment. (Author/LMO)

Murphy, Ronald J. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The present experiment was designed to distinquish between verbal and nonverbal encoding of sequentially presented spatial information. (Author)

Brown, Ann L.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The present study was designed to test the implication of the rehearsal deficit hypothesis of Brown (1972) and Morin et al. (1970). In it retarded adolescents were given rehearsal training on a keeping-track task. (Author/RK)

Bourne, Lyle E., Jr. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The purpose of the present experiment was to examine questions on information specification raised by P. R. Laughlin. Ss were asked to solve one attribute-identification problem, using the selection paradigm. (Author/RK)
