Peterson, Lloyd R.; Johnson, Suzanne T. – Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1971
Research was supported by a National Science Foundation grant to Indiana University. (VM)

Aylwin, Susan – British Journal of Psychology, 1977
A free association technique was used to investigate the semantic structure of three forms of encoding: verbal, visual imagery, and kinesthetic imagery. Discusses the relevance of these findings to creativity and the concept of semantic memory. (Editor/RK)

Jones, Mari Riess – Psychological Review, 1976
A theory of perception and attention that emphasizes the relational nature of perceptual invariants is developed within the context of auditory pattern research. (Editor)

Tulving, Endel; Watkins, Michael J. – Psychological Review, 1975
The objective of this article was to describe and discuss one possible approach to the problem of specifying properties of memory traces. (Author/RK)
Descriptors: Cues, Information Retrieval, Memory, Perception

Anderson, James A.; And Others – Psychological Review, 1977
A previously proposed model for memory based on neurophysiological considerations is reviewed. It is extended by introducing positive feedback of a set of neurons onto itself and allowing the neurons to saturate. The resulting model is analyzed by distinctive features, categorical perception, and as it applies to probability learning. (Editor/RK)

Posner, Michael I.; And Others – Psychological Review, 1976
Attempts to apply a chronometric analysis to the tendency of the visual modality to dominate conscious judgments about the presence and location of objects. (Author/RK)
Descriptors: Diagrams, Information Processing, Memory, Psychological Studies
Eysenck, Michael W. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Learning and Memory, 1975
Subjects low or high in activation, as measured by Thayer's Activation-Deactiviation Adjective Check List, participated in two semantic memory tasks, one involving speed of recall and the other speed of recognition. (Editor)

Richards, Larry G. – American Journal of Psychology, 1973
The present study was designed to examine the relative contributions of perception and memory to the word-frequency effect in the Solomon and Postman design. (Author)

Alridge, James W. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1978
Four experiments are reported investigating previous findings that speech perception interferes with concurrent verbal memory but difficult nonverbal perceptual tasks do not, to any great degree. (Editor)
Descriptors: Auditory Perception, Experimental Psychology, Experiments, Memory
Penney, Catherine G. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Learning and Memory, 1976
Three experiments were performed using a recognition probe procedure to test the subject's recognition of the order of two items from a dichotically presented list. (Editor)

Becker, Curtis A. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1976
A dual-task paradigm was used to assess attentional processing demands during visual word recognition. By manipulating the difficulty of each task, it is argued that the procedure estimates the attention demands of the memory-access component of word recognition. (Editor)
Descriptors: Attention, Experimental Psychology, Memory, Reaction Time
Moore, Jeffrey J.; Massaro, Dominic W. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The purpose of this experiment was to determine whether two dimensions of a single auditory stimulus are processed as competing channels of information, and if they are, whether S can selectively attend to one dimension specified at the beginning of a trial. (Author)
Descriptors: Auditory Perception, College Students, Cues, Feedback

Heckel, Robert V.; Heckel, Nancy W. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1976
An attempt was undertaken to demonstrate a relationship between earliest memories and a perception of significant future events. Relevance here was in the role that early memories play in the theoretical bases and treatment processes of all dynamically oriented therapies. (Author/RK)

Moscovitch, Morris; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1976
To determine whether perceptual asymmetries for faces occur at early or late stages of stimulus analysis, subjects compared the members of a pair of faces which appeared in the right or left visual field, either to each other or to a previously presented sample. (Editor)
Descriptors: Charts, Experimental Psychology, Experiments, Information Processing
