An Evaluation of Microcounseling as an Interviewer Training Tool
Moreland, John R.; Ivey, Allen E.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 41, 2, 294-300, Oct 73
Two groups of second year medical students were given interview training, one by a conventional method (practice interviews with instructor feedback) and one in microcounseling (specific practice in attending behavior, open-ended questions, paraphraseing, etc.) Pre-training and post-training interviews with real patients were videotaped for each student. Data analysis revealed that those subjects receiving microcounseling training improved more than those receiving conventional training. (Author/EK)
