The paradigm was utilized to train professionals in the skills of attending behavior, expression of feeling, and reflection of feeling. Results showed that all trainees evidence significant learning of all three behavioral skills in a short period of time. The purpose of this study was to determine significant differences in the self-ratings of counseling practicum students, their supervisor, and practicum assistants using the Counselor Evaluation Rating Scale (CERS). Results indicated that IPR, when compared to traditional supervision, did not produce differential effects on counselors' empathy level, client satisfaction, supervisor ratings, or clients' self-reported inhibition. Twenty-four trainee counselors were allocated to three treatment groups: no modeling, no feedback (NMF); modeling and feedback from the supervisor (MF); and feedback from the supervisor (F).
