A model for measuring output of university departments is presented. The model includes teaching, research, and other activities, with weighting factors given for each. The model is applied to the College of Commerce of Kuwait University, and recommendations for its application at other institutions are made. (Author/MSE)

Mahmoud, Mohamed M. – Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education, 1991
A study used correlational analysis and step-wise multiple regression to build mathematical models representing the dynamics of student evaluation of courses and teachers. The resulting models were very strong and were subsequently used to improve academic programs in Kuwait's Institute of Banking Studies. (Author/MSE)

The generally prescriptive approach to the evaluation of teaching by students is criticized. Examples are given of how the lack of prescription enables teachers to use evaluations in a more varied, relevant and innovative manner.
