This article classifies traditional drug education approaches into seven styles and two modes. The author is critical of each style, but presents his model for the use of administrators and drug educators. A review is presented of some studies which are critical to the factual approach to drug education. (Author/BW)

Investigated predictors of drug treatment retention of individual clients in terms of a contextual model. Found that the socioecological variables predicted the types of clients that entered treatment in terms of clinic level (aggregate) variables, and these predicted the corresponding individual level client variables and client outcomes. Reviews the status of women who abuse drugs and proposes considerations for treatment design. General concerns stress the importance of a well formulated treatment philosophy, encourage treatment of women with varying drug related dependencies together, and advocates the utilization of female professional staff in most instances.
