Grandy, Jerilee – 1992
This study investigated the construct validity and population generalizability of the NTE Core Battery using two different data bases and several analytical designs. Part I of the study used data from the November 1982 administration of the Core Battery at the subscore level for 5,183 examinees. Part II used data from the October 1985…

Olivarez, Arturo, Jr.; Tallent-Runnels, Mary K. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1994
The latent composition of the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory for High School (LASSI-HS) was studied through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis of results from 367 ninth-grade students. Evidence supports a three-factor model. Interrelationships among the constructs are examined, and use of the instrument is discussed. (SLD)

Cooper, M. Lynne – Psychological Assessment, 1994
Confirmatory factor analysis of data from a representative household sample of 1,243 black adolescents and white adolescents shows that the hypothesized model of drinking motives of Cox and Klinger (1988) provides an excellent fit to the data, with a four-factor pattern that is invariant across gender, race, and age. Daniel, Larry G.; King, Debra A. – 1994
This study offers field estimates of the factor validity and internal consistency reliability of the Self-Esteem Index (SEI) using SEI data from 208 regular and special education students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Exploratory factor analytic results support the existence of four factors as anticipated; however, various inconsistencies are noted…

Stone, Mark – 1990
A factor analysis study was conducted of the Wide Range Assessment of Memory and Learning (WRAML), a test developed from a test structure model of memory and learning. The battery is composed of nine subtests (three verbal, three visual, and three learning subsets). The sample consisted of 903 students aged 5 years through 8 years 11 months, and…

Garcia, Teresa; Pintrich, Paul R. – 1995
Some issues involved in the measurement of student motivation and learning strategies are explored, focusing on a self-report instrument, the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). The MSLQ, designed to assess the motivational orientation and learning strategy use of college students and based on a social-cognitive view, has been…
