The Delta Emerging Leaders Program prepares effective leaders for the Mississippi Delta region using the underlying principles of interracial contact, common goals, interpersonal association, and learner responsibility. Strategies for creating change include leadership characteristics and commitment, understanding of tradition, action orientation, grassroots goal setting, networks, empowerment, and ethics. (SK)
