Einarsdottir, Sif; Eyjolfsdottir, Katrin Osk; Rounds, James – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2013
The present investigation used an emic approach to develop a set of Icelandic indigenous basic interest scales. An indigenous item pool that is representative of the Icelandic labor market was administered to three samples (N = 1043, 1368, and 2218) of upper secondary and higher education students in two studies. Armstrong, Patrick Ian; Fouad, Nadya A.; Rounds, James; Hubert, Lawrence – Journal of Career Assessment, 2010
Research on group differences in interests has often focused on structural hypotheses and mean-score differences in Holland's (1997) theory, with comparatively little research on basic interest measures. Einarsdottir, Sif; Rounds, James – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2000
Multidimensional scaling analysis was conducted on the responses of 648 college students to 110 occupational title items in the Strong Interest Inventory. A three-dimensional structure of vocational interests emerged: Data-Ideas, People-Things, and Sex-Type. (SK)

Hansen, Jo-Ida C.; And Others – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1993
Multidimensional scaling was applied to Women-in-General (n=300) and Men-in-General (n=300) samples of the Strong Interest Inventory. Participants were matched on occupational title, obtaining two-dimensional solutions that demonstrated gender differences in the underlying structure of vocational interests. (SK)

Hansen, Jo-Ida C.; Scullard, Mark G.; Haviland, Mark G. – Journal of Career Assessment, 2000
Strong Interest Inventory scores of 103 female and 73 male Native American college students were submitted to multidimensional scaling analysis. Results supported the circular order and two-dimensional relationship of career interests. Females' results were more consistent with Holland's hexagonal model than were males' scores. (SK)

Hansen, Jo-Ida C.; Scullard, Mark G. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 2002
This study provides evidence of reliability and validity for the Leisure Interest Questionnaire (LIQ; J. C. Hansen, 1998). Undergraduate students completed the LIQ and Strong Interest Inventory (SII; E. K. Strong Jr., 1927) at Time 1 and the LIQ 5 weeks later. The internal consistency and test-retest reliability of the LIQ scales were calculated.…
