Coenders, Germa; Saris, Willem E. – Structural Equation Modeling, 2000
Provides alternatives to the definitions of additive and multiplicative method effects in multitrait-multimethod data given by D. Campbell and E. O'Connell (1967). The alternative definitions can be formulated by means of constraints in the parameters of the correlated uniqueness model (H. Marsh, 1989). (SLD)

Kumar, Ajith; Sharma, Subhash – Structural Equation Modeling, 1999
Demonstrates the advantages of Rao's Distance (C. Rao, 1949) over the root mean residual square for model comparisons using an analysis of a sample of multitrait-multimethod data. A simulation study shows that the true orderings of intermodel proximities are received with a fair degree of accuracy. (Author/SLD)

Bunting, Brendan P.; Adamson, Gary; Mulhall, Peter K. – Structural Equation Modeling, 2002
Studied planned incomplete data designs for the purpose of substantially reducing the amount of data required for multitrait-multimethod models. Simulations studied the effectiveness of Listwise Deletion, Pairwise Deletion, and the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. Results indicate that EM is generally precise and efficient. (SLD)

Corten, Irmgard W.; Saris, Willem E.; Coenders, Germa; van der Veld, William; Aalberts, Chris E.; Kornelis, Charles – Structural Equation Modeling, 2002
Compared different models suggested for the analysis of multitrait multimethod (MTMM) experiments for their fit to 87 data sets collected in the United States. The fit of models based on polychoric correlations is much worse than the fit of models based on product moment correlations, but in both cases a model that assumes additive method effects…

Conway, James M.; Lievens, Filip; Scullen, Steven E.; Lance, Charles E. – Structural Equation Modeling, 2004
This simulation investigates bias in trait factor loadings and intercorrelations when analyzing multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) data using the correlated uniqueness (CU) confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) model. A theoretical weakness of the CU model is the assumption of uncorrelated methods. However, previous simulation studies have shown little…

Dumenci, Levent; Windle, Michael – Structural Equation Modeling, 1998
A generalization of the single trait, multioccasion measurement model is provided through a confirmatory measurement model for multitrait-multioccasion (MTMO) data. Several commonly used confirmatory measurement models are contrasted with the MTMO, and it is illustrated with a large four-wave dataset on family support and alcohol involvement. (SLD)

Cole, David A.; Cho, Sung; Martin, Joan M.; Seroczynski, A. D.; Tram, Jane; Hoffman, Kit – Structural Equation Modeling, 2001
Studied the convergent and discriminant validity of multiple measures of perceived competence and obtained 12 separate multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) data sets for 1,228 children in grades 3 through 8. Examined the bias inherent in appraisals of children's competence and estimated manifest and latent variable mean differences between boys and girls…
