Costa, Sebastiano; Ingoglia, Sonia; Inguglia, Cristiano; Liga, Francesca; Lo Coco, Alida; Larcan, Rosalba – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2018
The purpose of this multistudy report was to adapt the Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction and Frustration Scale (BPNSFS) to the Italian context. Two studies were conducted. In Study 1, we investigated the dimensionality, reliability, and convergent and discriminant validity of the instrument in a sample of 544 participants (males = 41%) from 16…

Yang, Hongfei; Hong, Chaoqin; Tao, Xiaodan; Zhu, Lingyi – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
This study examined the structure, reliability, and validity of the revised Chinese version of the Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale (N = 933). The results confirmed the four-factor structure of the Chinese version of the Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale. Implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research are provided.

Laghi, Fiorenzo; Lonigro, Antonia; Levanto, Simona; Ferraro, Maurizio; Baumgartner, Emma; Baiocco, Roberto – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2016
The study aimed at verifying if nice and nasty theory of mind behaviors, in association with teachers' peer buddy nomination, could be used to correctly select peer models for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. Mentalizing abilities and emotional and behavioral characteristics of 601 adolescents were assessed. Results suggest that teachers…

Ding, Cody; Yang, Dong – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
The purpose of the study was to examine grade-level differences in coping behaviors among adolescents using a probabilistic multidimensional scaling (MDS) single-ideal-point model. Using data from students in middle school and at college, this article illustrated the MDS single-ideal-point model as an alternative to examine students' typical…

Boie, Ioana; Lopez, Anna L.; Sass, Daniel A. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
This study evaluated a model linking internalization and dieting behaviors in a sample ("n" = 499) of Latina/o and White college students. Analyses revealed that the scales were invariant across ethnic and gender groups and generally supported the invariance of the proposed model across these groups. Analyses also revealed no ethnic mean…

Kooken, Janice; Welsh, Megan E.; McCoach, D. Betsy; Johnston-Wilder, Sue; Lee, Clare – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2016
The Mathematical Resilience Scale measures students' attitudes toward studying mathematics, using three correlated factors: Value, Struggle, and Growth. The Mathematical Resilience Scale was developed and validated using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses across three samples. Results provide a new approach to gauge the likelihood of…

DeLisle, Michelle M.; Holden, Ronald R. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2009
The overlap between depression, hopelessness, and psychache constructs was investigated using 587 undergraduates. Analyses indicated three correlated dimensions; among these, psychache accounts for more variance in depression and hopelessness than these latter variables account for in psychache. All constructs demonstrated convergent validity, but…

Fish, Larry J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1988
Contends that multivariate statistical analyses should be studied and practiced more extensively. Gives several reasons for doing multivariate analysis and discusses two common errors in statistical analysis. Presents examples of how single multivariate analysis can produce different results than do separate univariate analyses and illustrates…

Thompson, Bruce – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1991
Explains basic logic of canonical analysis, illustrates that canonical analysis is general parametric analytic method subsuming other methods, and offers guidelines regarding use of this analytic approach. Concludes that canonical analysis is potent because it does not require researcher to discard variance of any variables and because it honors…

Enders, Craig K. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2003
This article illustrates 2 follow-up procedures that can be used to examine multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) group differences: the univariate analysis of a linear composite variable and multivariate contrasts. A heuristic data set is used to demonstrate the procedures, and it is shown that the follow-up methods will not always yield…

Rogers, James R.; Abbey-Hines, Jodi; Rando, Robert A. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1997
Cross validates and discusses the Good et al. confirmatory factor analysis of the Gender Role Conflict Scale (GRCS). Data taken from college students (N=684) support the internal consistency reliability of the GRCS and offer tentative proof for its factorial validity. Results highlight the importance of reporting multiple fit indices. (RJM)

Lease, Suzanne H.; Yanico, Barbara J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1995
The convergent validity of an abbreviated version of the Children of Alcoholics Screening Test (CAST) was tested and supported. Extends a previous validity study by examining the CAST relationship to a measure that specifically addresses triangulation, individuation, intimacy, and personal authority between children of alcoholics and children of…
