Kevin D. Wilson – Teaching of Psychology, 2024
Background: Psychology has seen a recent explosion in the use of non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) to understand cognition. The prevalence of techniques such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in published research has grown immensely in the past decade; however, there has been little effort to incorporate these techniques into…

Ann-Kathrin Hennes; Alfred Schabmann; Barbara Maria Schmidt – Mind, Brain, and Education, 2024
In the educational context, there are numerous "neuromyths" about how findings from neuroscience can be used to improve teaching and learning. International research has shown that the majority of teachers tend to believe in these and use them in the classroom. Since the belief in neuromyths might not enhance or even have adverse effects…

Lisa L. Beijan; Elizabeth A. Prosek; Leslie D. Jones; Danielle Jackson; Brittany Legacy – Counselor Education and Supervision, 2022
We used consensual qualitative research to explore eight counselor educators' experience integrating neuroscience into counseling curriculum. Six domains, 18 categories, and 37 subcategories emerged from the data highlighting barriers, successes, and future trajectory of incorporating neuroscience consistently and ethically into counselor training.

Conor Barker; Kathryn Isenor Yorke; Emily Mak; Ethan C. Draper; Erin L. Mazerolle – Mind, Brain, and Education, 2024
Previous work suggested that sharing personal stories is effective for knowledge translation (KT) of the neuroscience of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) for a teacher audience. In the current study, we experimentally evaluated the impact of personal story and lived experience on a similar KT activity. We measured knowledge and…

Lauren Margulieux; James Prather; Masoumeh Rahimi – Educational Psychology Review, 2025
Failure can be an effective tool for learning, but it comes with negative consequences. Educators and learners should practice strategies that leverage the benefits of failure while managing its negative consequences on learners' motivation and persistence. Towards that goal, this paper examines the biological effects of failure on learning to (1)…

Elizabeth Y. Toomarian; Radhika S. Gosavi; Lindsey R. Hasak; Madison Bunderson; Bruce D. McCandliss – Mind, Brain, and Education, 2024
Advances in the field of Mind, Brain, and Education (MBE) have been limited by a fundamental separation between university-based neuroscience laboratories and school communities, constraining the field's ability to collaboratively devise research studies germane to child development. This commentary explores the assertion that the persistent…

Caroline Cvetkovic; Sarah Lindley; Holly Golecki; Robert Krencik – Biomedical Engineering Education, 2024
Biomedical engineering (BME) is a multidisciplinary, constantly advancing field; as such, undergraduate programs in BME must continually adapt. Elective courses provide opportunities for students to select topic areas relevant to their interests or future careers. Specifically, laboratory courses allow experiential learning in specialized topics…

Eliot Hazeltine; Iring Koch; Daniel H. Weissman – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 2024
Responses are slower in two-choice tasks when either a previous stimulus feature or the previous response repeats than when all features repeat or all features change. Current views of action control posit that such partial repetition costs (PRCs) index the time to update a prior "binding" between a stimulus feature and the response or…
