A legal opinion about how the Canadian Charter affects education is developed from texts and existing cases under the charter and from foreign experience that may be parallel. Prevailing explanations for the underrepresentation of females in mathematics, science, and technology in school and the workplace are reviewed, and disadvantageous features of higher education and the workplace are discussed.
