Koutsopoulos, Kostis C.; Papoutsis, Panos – Educational Policy Analysis and Strategic Research, 2016
Nowadays for an appropriate way to deal with teaching and learning there is an axiomatic need to accept an integrated-holistic approach both in terms of the way we regard education and of how we practice it. This leads to a two-prong position: First, that education constitutes a dialectic entity and second that approaches to education presently in…

Liu, Jiang; Chen, Guofeng – Chinese Education and Society, 2013
Developing vocational education is a necessity for the economic and social development of high-poverty areas in China. But vocational education in impoverished areas lacks social recognition and faces funding shortages, along with difficulties in recruiting students. Lessig, Lawrence – EDUCAUSE Review, 2010
Copyright is essential to a diverse and rich culture. Yet the platform--the technology--through which individuals get access to their culture has changed radically. The existing system of copyright thus cannot work in the digital age and needs also to be changed, radically. In this article, the author shares three observations on the way to…

Burrell, Quentin L. – Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 2002
A recently proposed stochastic model to describe the citation process in the presence of obsolescence is used to answer the question: If a paper has not been cited by a certain time after its publication, what is the probability that it will ever be cited? A proof of the theorem is appended. (Author/LRW)

Burrell, Quentin L. – Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 2003
Develops the theory for a stochastic model for the citation process in the presence of obsolescence to predict the future citation pattern of individual papers in a collection. Shows that the expected number of future citations is a linear function of the current number, interpreted as an example of a success-breeds-success phenomenon. (Author/LRW)

Noma, Elliot; Olivastro, Dominic – Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1985
A study comparing citations received by patents in given year to number received in subsequent years found that, even though influential patents remain influential, both highly and infrequently cited patents age at same rate. Distribution of patents by number of citations received is stable over time. (17 references) (EJS)

Johnson, Pauline Taglialavore – MOBIUS, 1987
The explosion of new knowledge and increased specialization have heightened the nurse's need for continuing education. The concepts of motivation, obsolescence, competence, and lifelong learning are inherent in the continuing education process. These concepts and the theories of learning and change are presented and related to nursing practice.…

Parker, Ralph H. – Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1982
Examines the distribution of use of items in a large information store and suggests that a simple exponential model describes the process of obsolescence more precisely. Three tables, four figures, and a 17-item reference list are included. (Author/JL)

Griffith, Belver C.; And Others – Journal of Documentation, 1979
Indicates that citation data conform to the Brookes model, that a scientific journal which is used as an archive ages slowly, and that one which supports a research front ages quickly--aging being dependent not only on the material, but on the user. (Author/SW)

Gapen, D. Kaye; Milner, Sigrid P. – Library Trends, 1981
Reviews research on obsolescence (decline over time in validity or utility of information), citing two major state-of-the-art reviews and subsequent research involving citation studies and use studies based on circulation and reshelving statistics. A problem-solving management model developed to aid libraries deal with obsolescence is discussed.…

Bell, Duran; And Others – 1976
A project focusing on the assessment of the educational system in adapting people to technological change considered the problem of adaptation for the whole person, not simply the work role, but also the family, consumer, citizen, and other roles for which educational activity is potentially instrumental.
