Educating Families on the Individualized Education Process
Hillary Martino
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
When it comes to education, parental involvement and building relationships with the school are key to success. Students with special education needs especially need the support of their parents. The Educational Diagnosticians of the Capital School District helped provide data on the parental involvement in the Individualized Education Program process. Specifically, the researcher collected data about parents' understanding of the parts of an IEP, Procedural Safeguards, and the documents presented during the process. The researcher reviewed data from this survey to establish parents' training and provide them with one-page references to use during their child's IEP journey.
