A questionnaire was sent to 502 Nottingham University part-time teachers in adult education to assess their attitudes towards their training programs. Based on 202 completed questionnaires, new approaches to training programs were formulated. (EC)

Consideration is given to the sense of isolation, the part-timer's general role in the university and limitations enforced by that role, and the contribution part-timers could make to course maintenance and planning.
