High and low defensive subjects were given reenacted videotape and videotape feedback of an earlier stressful interview. All subjects had more negative feelings when viewing actor/actress self-portrayals. Low defensive subjects viewed both themselves and the actor/actress portrayals more negatively than did high defensive subjects. (Author)

Investigated the relation between preferences and expectations about counselors in a university student counseling service with 100 student clients before their initial intake session. Examined the relationship of counselor gender to client return rate. Results showed male counselors had higher return rates regardless of their level of experience, the gender of clients, the concerns of clients, or the severity of those concerns.
