Goldhammer, Frank; Rauch, Wolfgang A.; Schweizer, Karl; Moosbrugger, Helfried – Intelligence, 2010
The study investigates the effects of intelligence, perceptual speed and age on intraindividual growth in attentional speed and attentional accuracy over the course of a 6-minute testing session. A sample of 193 subjects completed the Advanced Progressive Matrices and the Vienna Matrices Test representing intelligence, the tests Alertness and…

Dennis, Martin J.; Sternberg, Robert J.; Beatty, Paul – Intelligence, 2000
Proposes a methodology and describes a test battery that synthesizes the psychometric strengths of maximal performance tests and the engagingness of typical-performance tests. Results with 31 adults show that the test measures the same abilities tapped by conventional cognitive tests but is viewed by examinees as less stressful, more interesting,…

Embretson, Susan E. – Intelligence, 1987
Three studies of dynamic testing of spatial aptitude were performed with training on the physical analogue of the mental task between the pre-test and the post-test. A total of 129 college students participated. Training increased spatial ability. Other experiments indicated that construct validity was influenced by dynamic testing. (SLD)

Smith, Glen A.; McPhee, K. A. – Intelligence, 1987
Timed performance measures from a coincidence timing task taking about 10 minutes are shown to have significant correlations with psychometric general intelligence in a group of 56 children. The mean absolute error across three conditions correlated -.294 with Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices scores but was sex-biased, with girls being less…

Jones, Ruth S.; Torgesen, Joseph K. – Intelligence, 1981
First, third, fifth and eleventh graders were videotaped as they completed the Block Design Subtest of the WISC-R. Neither the order of placement of blocks within each design nor the degree to which children persisted in placing a given block correctly before moving to the next one evidenced developmental differences. (Author/RD)

Royer, Fred L. – Intelligence, 1978
Various experiments demonstrated that the difficulty level of several performance-type intelligence test tasks is determined directly by stimulus and task variables that vary the information to be processed. The implications of these findings for intelligence and the problems of an experimental approach to the measurement of intelligence are…

Rie, Ellen D.; Rie, Herbert E. – Intelligence, 1979
Reading deficits among elementary-aged learning disabled children with suspected neurocognitive dysfunctions were calculated. The children were grouped according to IQ profiles. Results indicated that the pattern of high verbal-low performance IQs was associated with the least deficiency in reading ; this association was evident as early as second…
