This study adds credence to the findings of others that leavers are less settled personalities who think deeply, act on feelings rather than on measured consequences, are anxious about their environment and about themselves, sense a need for independence and seek ways to test that need. (Author)

From the 1956 data, it was found that high self esteem young women did more dating and tended to go steady less often while in college. From the present comparisons, it is found that the young women who had dated more often tended to be married earlier. (Author)

A research-based model is presented that accounts for major patterns of adaptive and maladaptive behavior in terms of underlying psychological processes.
