Balaban Dagal, Asude; Bayindir, Dilan – International Electronic Journal of Elementary Education, 2016
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the level of self-directed learning readiness, locus of control and the personality traits of preschool teacher candidates. The survey method was used for this study. The study group consisted of 151 teacher candidates who volunteered to participate in the study from Preschool…

Pandya, Archana A.; Jogsan, Yogesh A. – Educational Research and Reviews, 2013
The main purpose of this investigation is to find out the sex differences in personality traits and locus of control among school children. A total 60 children (30 boys and 30 girls) were taken as a sample. The research tool for personality, children personality questionnaire was used, which was made by Cattell and Porter. Locus of control was…

Kestenbaum, Joel M. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1976
Subjects rated each item in Rotter's I-E Scale for its social desirability value. Social desirability scale values (SDSV) of paired items were compared with one another. Results indicate that paired items are not similar in their SDSV, thus enabling subjects to respond on the basis of social desirability. (Author/DEP)

Klockars, Alan J.; Varnum, Susan W. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1975
Examined two assumptions about the dimensionality of Rotters' Internal-External (I-E) scale: First, the bipolarity of the two statements within each item pair; second, the unidimensionality of the overall construct. Both assumptions regarding Rotters' I-E Scale were found untenable. (Author/BJG)
Descriptors: Factor Analysis, Factor Structure, Locus of Control, Personality Measures

Little, Craig B. – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1977
Presents a study of the identification of distinct dimensions within Rotter's Internal-External Control Scale. Five hundred college seniors served as subjects. (BD)

Dixon, David N.; And Others – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1976
Three locus of control scales were examined with regard to their reported psychometric properties. Results indicate a multifactor makeup for the three scales. (Author/DEP)

Goodman, Sherri Hope; Waters, L. K. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Coefficient alpha reliability estimates and interscale correlations were obtained for five locus of control scales administered to 267 undergraduates: the Rotter Internal-External Scale; the 18-item version of the Reid and Ware scale; the Levenson scale; the Nowicki-Strickland adult internal/external scale; and the Duttweiler Internal Control…

Scott, Donald P.; Severance, Laurence – 1972
Rotter's Internal-External (I-E) locus of control scale, the MMPI, and the CPI were administered to 100 males in a nonacademic environment. Relationships between I-E and the other measures were examined: a sizeable amount of the variance in I-E scores was accounted for by MMPI and CPI scales, but a discriminant analysis failed to enable reliable…

Zerega, William D., Jr.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
The results show that the stability of the Rotter Internal-External Locus of Control Scale is established over an eight month period. Concurrent validity of the Rotter Internal-External Locus of Control Scales in relation to the MacDonald-Tseng Locus of Control Scale is established. (Author/DEP)

Kinder, Donald L.; Reeder, Leo G. – Sociometry, 1975
Rotters' internal external scale failed to demonstrate adequate degrees of interval consistency for Blacks. The unreliability of the dimension among Blacks was pervasive. Such unrealiability was specific to Blacks: there was satisfactory internal consistency for Anglos and Chicanos. The theoretical and methodological implications of these findings…

Genthner, Robert W.; Jones, Daniel E. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1976
The results from these analyses supported the hypothesis that the Personal Responsibility Rating System has construct validity as a measure of psychological health. (Author/DEP)

Omizo, Michael M.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
The relationship was examined between six scales of the Locus of Control for Three Achievement Domains (LOCITAD), the Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale, and the Rotter Internal-External Scale. Subjects were 140 adolescent boys and girls. Significant correlations provided some support for LOCITAD's validity. (Author/GDC)

Wong, Paul T. P.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
The Trent Attribution Profile provides measures of locus of control and stability which can be further partitioned into individual attribution elements (ability, effort, task difficulty, luck). Reliability and validity data are reported. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Adults, Attribution Theory, Higher Education, Locus of Control

Zuckerman, Miron; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
A factor analysis of Rotter's internal-external locus of control scale is described. The four factors extracted were there correlated with several political attitude instruments. Results lead authors to suggest a modification in Rotter's scale, particularly in the "just world" items. (JKS)

Rucker, M. H.; King, D. C. – Social Behavior and Personality, 1985
Investigated effects of ascendancy and perceived locus of control on reactions to participative and manipulative leadership among college males, using Guilford-Zimmerman ascendancy scores and Rotter Internal-External scale scores. Results indicated that the two personality measures were associated with different reactions to the two styles of…
