Tew, Brian – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1977
Descriptors: Intelligence Tests, Physical Characteristics, Physical Disabilities, Predictor Variables

Timmons, Beverly A. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Research has linked delayed auditory feedback and stuttering to several physiological factors. A review of familial relationship, age, sex, stress, speech characteristics, and sound conduction is presented. A brief integration of the factors and directions for research is presented. (Author/PN)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Articulation Impairments, Foreign Countries, Physical Characteristics

Black, Harvey K. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1974
Examines rates of referral for psychological assessment, speech, reading, and learning disabilities of physically attractive children, raising the question of how children's physical appearance affects the liklihood of their being referred for treatment if they are good looking. (RB)
Descriptors: Educational Research, Elementary Education, Grade 3, Interpersonal Attraction

Taylor, Ellen; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Children's abilities to judge "who is older" without using size as a cue were studied. Five-year-olds were better able to discriminate age than four-year-olds but were not equal to adults. No significant sex differences were found. (Author/RD)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Chronological Age, Cognitive Development, Physical Characteristics

Schwartz, Neil H.; Dean, Raymond S. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1978
The study examined the prediction of group membership of 40 learning disabled and 40 normal children (mean age 11.2 years for both groups) on the basis of preference for laterality of the children and of their parents. (Author/PHR)
Descriptors: Cerebral Dominance, Exceptional Child Research, Group Membership, Lateral Dominance

Rider, Robert A.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1983
While for 31 trainable mentally handicapped children and for 31 nonhandicapped, there were no differences in static balance on left or right legs, total balance time was significantly different between the two groups. This confirms prior work which related motor proficiency to intelligence. (Author/RD)
Descriptors: Body Height, Body Weight, Correlation, Elementary Education

Draper, Thomas W.; Munoz, Milagros M. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
A relationship between an anomaly of the footprint suggested by ancient Abhidhamma meditations and Minor Physical Anomalies Scale was observed in children. The footprint anomalies correlated with the activity levels of children in the same way as the scores on the scale and consistently with prior research using the scale. (Author/RD)
Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Check Lists, Correlation, Elementary Education

Jaffe, Joseph; Brodie, H. Keith H. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1971
Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Behavioral Science Research, Conflict Resolution, Eye Fixations

Murray, C. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1971
Descriptors: Athletes, Emotional Adjustment, Peer Relationship, Perceptual Motor Coordination
