Kirkland, Lynn D.; Manning, Maryann; Osaki, Kyoko; Hicks, Delyne – Journal of Research in Childhood Education, 2015
Traditionally, children in low socioeconomic status (SES) inner-city areas in the United States lack experiences that prepare them for academic success, especially in math and science. Miyakawa, Yoko; Kamii, Constance; Nagahiro, Mariko – Journal of Research in Childhood Education, 2005
Fifty 1-to 3-year-olds were asked to imitate: (1) the rolling of a cylinder down an incline and (2) the making of an incline with a board and a block. Their incorrect imitations and progress were videotaped and analyzed, and interpreted in light of Piaget's theory about the elaboration of logico-mathematical relationships in an interrelated way.…

Willson-Quayle, Angela; Pasnak, Robert – Journal of Research in Childhood Education, 1997
Used multiple baseline design with four 6-year-old Latino children to train in class inclusion through counting, feedback, and verbal reinforcers, and in English language skills (of benefit in their own right), over 5 months. Found that post-intervention gains in the two domains were significant and were stable over at least 4.5 months. (KB)

Barchard, Kathryn; Atkins, Cammie – Journal of Research in Childhood Education, 1991
Studied the possibility that children's decisions regarding naughtiness and types of punishment differ according to age and sex. Subjects were interviewed after hearing two stories from Piaget's study of children's moral reasoning. Significant age variability was found. Findings imply that children did not make the connection between the act and…

Kamii, Constance – Journal of Research in Childhood Education, 1986
Investigates children's difficulty in understanding (numerical) place value. A counting and estimating task, based on Piaget's number theory, was devised to determine if children in grades one through five evidenced this construction. (Author/BB)

Forman, George – Journal of Research in Childhood Education, 1986
Children, aged three to seven years, were observed in spontaneous and structured situations using computer graphics and robots. It was found that computer graphics can enhance reflectivity and that robots present a rich problem-solving environment for pairs of children as they try to coordinate commands to one robot.
