The Nebraska Occupational Information books (volumes I and II) contain information about 386 different occupations in the state and answer questions about specific occupations in detail. The descriptions are arranged according to a U.S. Department of Labor classification system, with occupational titles clustered in general groups of selected categories from the Standard Occupational Classification manual. The information provided about each occupation is divided into four sections as follows: (1) description of the occupation, including Holland code, specialties, code number from the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, related occupations, work activities, aptitudes, work setting, Nebraska employment, wages, and growth expected; (2) high school and postsecondary preparation and skills; (3) bibliography; and (4) list of Nebraska postsecondary schools that offer education/training in the field. The following occupational categories are included in Volume I: administration; management occupations; engineers, surveyors, and architects; computer, mathematical, and operations research occupations; natural scientists; social scientists and urban planners; social, recreation, and religious workers; lawyers and judges; postsecondary institution teachers; teachers; vocational and educational counselors; librarians, archivists, and curators; physicians and dentists; veterinarians; diagnosing and treating practitioners; registered nurses; pharmacists, dietitians, therapists, and physician assistants; writers, artists, and performers; editors, reporters, public relations specialists, and radio and television announcers; athletes and related workers; health technologists and technicians; engineering and related technologists and technicians; science technologists and technicians; and technicians.
