Replication of a Career Academy Model: The Georgia Central Educational Center and Four Replication Sites. Issues & Answers. REL 2011-No. 101
Detgen, Amy; Alfeld, Corinne
Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast
The study surveyed four career academies in Georgia that replicated the model of the Georgia Central Educational Center (CEC), which integrates technical instruction and academics at the high school level. The findings of this study indicate that each site adhered to the major tenets of the CEC model: conducting a needs assessment, developing partnerships with local businesses and at least one technical college, and working toward seamlessness (for example, offering dual enrollment opportunities for students). Within the CEC framework, site leaders said that the flexibility of the model was critical in adapting it to their local community. Appendices include: (1) Study methods; (2) Topics for preinterview web search data; (3) Preinterview web search results; and (4) Key informant interview protocol. (Contains 2 boxes, 12 tables and 6 notes.) [For the summary report, see ED515060.]
