The experience gained in three semesters with three students in an internship program for future pharmacy professors is reported. Students spent the equivalent of about one work day a week on the course, each completed two or more special projects incorporated into the department, and participated in departmental activities and meetings. Pharmacy students in Florida may fulfill their internship requirements either by participating in this college-supervised practicum internship program or in the traditional 2080-hour internship program directed by the Florida Board of Pharmacy that requires 1,040 hours be completed before graduation.
