Webb, Kathryn; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
This study examined the ability of the Listen and Look (LL) test of cross-modal perception and the Metropolitan Readiness Test (MRT) to predict reading achievement. Data from 79 first-grade pupils were analyzed. Both the LL and MRT demonstrated predictive validity. (Author/BW)

Swanson, Beverly B.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
Samples of entering first-grade students were used to examine the predictive validity of the group administered Metropolitan Readiness Test (MRT) and the individually administered Meeting Street School Screening Test (MSSST). The advantage of the latter was found to possibly outweigh the advantage of efficiency in group administration. (Author/GK)

Belka, David E. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1981
Multiple regression equations were generated to predict cognitive achievement for 40 children (ages 57 to 68 months) one year after administration of a battery of six perceptual and perceptual-motor tests to determine if previous results from Toledo could be replicated. (Author)

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Contemporary Educational Psychology, 1979
The responses of 322 beginning first graders to the six subtests of the Metropolitan Readiness Test were factor analyzed. A single General Readiness factor appeared to best describe the instrument. Implications for use of the Metropolitan Readiness Test are briefly discussed. (Author)

Rouse, Heather L.; Fantuzzo, John W. – School Psychology Review, 2006
The validity of three subtests of the Dynamic Indicators for Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) was investigated for kindergarten children in a large urban school district. A stratified, random sample of 330 participants was drawn from an entire cohort of kindergarten children. Letter Naming Fluency, Phoneme Segmentation Fluency, and Nonsense…

Tsushima, William T.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
With no substantial relationship between the Screening Test of Academic Readiness (STAR) and the Metropolitan Readiness Test scores and low correlation between the STAR and teachers' rankings, the findings indicate the STAR may not be an effective screening test for kindergarten pupils in a population of children with superior intelligence…

Flynn, Timothy M. – 1975
The predictive validity of the Slosson Intelligence Test, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test, Developmental Test of Visual Motor Integration, and the Metropolitan Readiness Test was evaluated for use with kindergarten children. The criterion measure was the California Achievement Tests administered when the children…

Reynolds, Cecil R. – 1980
Determination of the fairness of preschool tests for use with children of varying cultural backgrounds is the major objective of this study. The predictive validity of a battery of preschool tests, chosen to represent the core areas of preschool assessment, across race and sex, was evaluated. Validity of the battery was examined over a 12-month…

Joyce, Bonnie G.; Wolking, William D. – Rural Special Education Quarterly, 1988
Evaluates the criterion validity of a curriculum-based assessment (CBA) to identify gifted children in rural areas. Compares CBA and standardized test scores for 286 kindergarten and first grade children. Concludes that the instruments' predictive validity is equivalent, but the CBA has practical advantages for rural school districts. 25…

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1980
When a number of school readiness tests were used with a group of 322 kindergarten children to predict end of first-grade Metropolitan Achievement Test scores, no evidence of racial bias and only minimal effects of sex bias were found in the predictions based on analysis of variance. (CTM)
