Thompson, Bruce – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1979
The Analysis of Learning Potential was developed to assist counselors and teachers to formulate more realistic academic expectations in view of the pupil's estimated learning potential. Results of the study suggest that the instrument does have the predictive characteristics that might be expected of a general academic aptitude measure. (Author)
Descriptors: Academic Aptitude, Counselors, Elementary Education, Learning Processes
Jepsen, David A.; Dustin, Richard – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1984
Describes a simulation method for observing career information-seeking behavior. The Career Information Request (CIR) was tested at a Career Development Day for 53 high school juniors. No clear pattern of internal consistency was found among students' responses to the seven information opportunities. (JAC)

Borgen, Fred H.; Harper, Gregory T. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1973
Validity of the SVIB for predicting career choice at the end of college was studied with able black and white men who were winners of National Achievement and National Merit Scholarships in 1966. Membership in career groups was predicted at least as well for these able blacks as it was for the whites. (Author)

O'Shea, Arthur J.; Harrington, Thomas F. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1974
The SVIB for men profiles of 202 male and female counselor education students were examined to determine the extent of sex differences. The differential predictive validity of the SVIB was also studies. The results of this study support the direction which the new Strong is to take. (Author)
Descriptors: Career Choice, Career Choice, Predictive Validity, Sex Differences
Healy, Charles C.; Mourton, Don L. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1984
Tested whether scores on the Self Directed Search relate to career development needs in a study of 138 college students. Findings showed the scores related differentially in ways predicted by Holland (1973) and supported probing whether college students earning low investigative scores were behind in their career development. (JAC)
Descriptors: Career Development, College Students, Higher Education, Personality Traits
Feild, Hubert S. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1977
A longitudinal study was conducted to determine whether students' life history or biographical data could be used to predict their experiences in college. Significant relationships were found between the students' life history data and their subsequent college experiences. (Author)
Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Biographical Inventories, College Students, Higher Education
Zytowski, Donald G. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1974
One hundred and two males and females were located 25 years after they had taken a KPR-B at an average age of 14 years. Fifty-three percent were engaged in occupations consistent with their highest interest scores, although 32 percent were in occupations consistent with their lowest scores. (Author)

Miller, Douglas E.; Kunce, Joseph T. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1973
An empirical study of statistical overkill investigated the generalizability of multiple regression equations as a function of the subject/variable ratio. Data from various-sized groups of rehabilitation clients were used to develop the equations. Findings showed that equations developed on samples with less than a 10 to 1 ratio failed to…

Tracey, Terence J.; Sedlacek, William E. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1984
Examined the reliability, construct validity, and predictive validity of the Non-Cognitive Questionnaire (NCQ) for different racial groups, using a sample of 1,975 Black and White college students. Results showed the NCQ significantly predicted persistence for Black students and predicted grades for both groups. (JAC)
Descriptors: Academic Persistence, Black Students, College Students, Grade Prediction
Smith, John E.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1971
The purpose of this study was to construct a scale to discriminate between those students who are likely to drop out of school and those who are not. The results indicate that this must be only the first of many steps. (Author)
Descriptors: Dropout Characteristics, Dropout Research, Dropouts, Educational Research
Barclay, James R.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1983
Discussed the predictive index developed from the Barclay Classroom Climate Inventory which aids in identifying both gifted children and those in need of remedial help. Elementary school students (N=64) selected for a gifted program were studied. Results showed gifted children can be discriminated with reasonable accuracy. (JAC)

O'Connor, Carol Alf; McAnulty, Brenda Hart – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1981
